The Samsung r451c came out in mid October, and is currently available for Net10 and Straight Talk. I’ve been using it with Straight Talk service, and I’m going to give you a quick review of this phone.

This phone was released shortly after the very similar T401g Net10 phone, and it also includes a QWERTY keyboard. Besides the keyboard, it has an mp3 player and 1.3 megapixel camera, very similar to the T401g. However, the r451c does NOT include a camcorder.

The slide-out QWERTY keyboard is a big selling point for many people who are considering this phone. This keyboard has four rows of keys, which are a soft rubbery material.

I haven’t used this phone quite as much as I use the T401g, but on either phone I do like the addition of the QWERTY keyboard. Especially if you do a lot of texting, it will probably save you some time. Like I mentioned in my T401g review, though, using the QWERTY pretty much requires using two hands to text. Of course, if you want to text one-handed you can always keep the slider closed and use the regular keypad with T9 predictive text.

Now, I’ll give a description of the other buttons on the Samsung r451c. On the left side is the rocker switch to adjust the call volume. On some models, these same buttons can be used to change ringtone volume when you’re NOT in a call, but that’s not the case here. On this model, there’s a separate button to open the ringtone settings.

Samsung R451C Customer Reviews

The Straight Talk website has lately added the Check Out The R451C to its online shop for $99.99. (Now you can obtain a FREE refurb R451C with acquisition of airtime card!)  Why news?  Since the Samsung R451C may be the the very first Texting keyboard phone to become offered within the TracFone group of prepaid wireless services.

I do not have my on the job one of these simple yet, but together with the slider Texting keyboard, it features a 1.3 megapixel phone, a music player, and bluetooth.  I will not list all the particulars here, since locate them about the Straight Talk website, but it is not necessarily a bad set of features for any prepaid phone.

Obviously, you need to activate the telephone with either the $45/month limitless plan or even the $30/month 1000/1000/30 plan, so component that directly into your initial outlay of money to obtain this phone.  The web site allows you buy the telephone inside a bundle and among the airtime cards to really make it easy.  Plus, they are tossing in free freight at this time too simply to sweeten the offer.

If you are a new comer to Straight Talk, read my primary Straight Talk Review to obtain a better concept of how it operates and just how it’s not the same as TracFone and Net10.
Update: The curiosity was an excessive amount of, and so i checked my local Wal-Mart to ascertain if they’d any Straight Talk phones available yet.  Alas, they didn’t.  To not be discouraged so easily, I purchased a Samsung R451C in the Straight Talk website using the overnight shipping.  Stay updated for pictures and hands-on particulars inside a couple of days.

Update 10/26: I have had an opportunity to try out the Samsung R451C a little in the last couple of days.  I’ll obtain a full review published inside a couple of days (hopefully), but I’ll proceed and publish a couple of highlights now.

I could effectively connect both via bluetooth and using a usb cable to my computer and move files backwards and forwards between my computer and my phone.  The usb cable and sd card aren’t incorporated within the package whenever you purchase the phone.
I could copy a mp3 file towards the R451C and both listen to it using the very good music player about the phone and hang it as being a ring-tone.

I have had the opportunity to transmit mms picture back and forth from the R451C both to a different phone and also to email.
I could record a note using the voice recorder and hang it as being a ring-tone.  You are able to set different ring tones for various contacts, now after i obtain a call at home, my ring-tone is my spouse saying that I’d better answer!  :-)

I could copy files in the memory towards the Sdcard.  I opted for a 2GB card since it was the least expensive.
I’ve not seen in whatever way to sync your contacts with outlook or other method to download them in the phone.  I had been, however, in a position to sign in to my gmail account in the browser.

To lock the keyboard about the R451C, you possess lower the * key.  It required us a while to find that out.  To unlock the keyboard you press the left soft key and so the * key.  Sliding the keyboard also opens the telephone.
You discover all of the official specs about the Straight Talk website and here is a connect to the manual, that we was surprised to locate in printed form within the box.  Meanwhile, I’ll keep inserting away with an official review, but for the time being I’ll state that generally I love this phone and haven’t found any major disappointments.

Update 10/31: While holding out for trick-or-treaters tonight, I decided to publish a few link you will probably find useful.  The very first is the state R451C page about the Samsung website.  Make sure to click the tabs across the center of the screen to locate more particulars concerning the phone’s features. Also you will find some lessons about the Straight Talk website underneath the support section.  Without having the telephone yet, these lessons can help you explore the characteristics about the phone. For those who have found the info on Fone-Review more useful compared to sales clerk at the average large box store, help me to carry on helping everybody!

UPDATE: I now recommend the Straight Talk Nokia E71 because the phone to obtain if you prefer a true wise phone from Straight Talk.  The E71 runs the Symbian operating-system and does all that you’d expect a wise phone to complete.
I received the oddest damn postcard within the mail today from AT&T.  It had been about my landline.  The credit card stated a big change of address ended on my small account last Wednesday which this card had been delivered to that old address.  I had been searching inside my wireless account online a week ago, although not my landline.  That’s an entire different account and login.  I did not visit.

Maybe I better check…I just drenched in and my mailing address wasn’t transformed.  Err.  Is a way to get me to give them a call up to allow them to sell me more stuff I do not need?  Reaches&T on the fishing expedition?  Maybe I’ll contact them tomorrow and request them exactly what the fuck.  When they are saying, “Is there other things I will help you with?”, plus they ALWAYS do, I’ll request just how much could it be to terminate my mobile phone contract in order to change to MetroPCS with limitless everything for just $45/month.

Talking about mobile phones, I had been in Walmart yesterday and they’ve these new TracFone “Straight Talk” plans.  I have not seen them before, but maybe I wasn’t having to pay attention.  My store had three phones to choose from, all reasonably listed.  I’d my attention about the $99.98 Samsung R451C.  (The “C” means it’s about the CDMA network.)

Which means you purchase the phone and call several to activate it.  There’s no activation fee.  That’s sweet.  You can preserve your existing telephone number or customize the one.  Keep your eyes peeled, though.  Should you leave the telephone inactive for thirty days, that’s with no plan, you’ll lose your number and you’ll need to get a brand new number whenever you spark up again.

They’ve two monthly plans.  $30/month for 1000 minutes, 1000 texts, 30mb of information, and free calls to 411.  That’s one HELL of the deal.
I’m having to pay $39.99 for my bit of shit plan from AT&T and that’s simply speaking.  No texts, web, email, nothing. Another TracFone plan’s $45/month for limitless calls, texts, mobile web access, and 411 calls.

Now here’s the awesome part, no contracts.  Whenever your plan expires, just purchase either plan every thirty days and also hardwearing . account active.  In the event that you actually do not need the limitless plan, then just purchase the $30 plan next time around.  You will find no rollover minutes, though. No costs for just about any of these things:  activation, reactivation, cancellation, daily access, roaming or overage costs.
Have you observe that?  NO DAILY Costs!  Other pre-compensated phone plans ask you for a regular fee if you use the telephone.  I have seen costs up to $3/day.  Damn, Gina!  Listed here are more stats.
